Copy several, paste in order
How do I copy several things and paste them one by one?
Three lines out of a chat answer into three fields of a form, without going back and forth. Two ways to do it.
Copy three things. Paste three things.
Press Cmd-Shift-C to start a stack. Copy the first line, the second, the third. Switch to the form. Cmd-V lands the first, Cmd-V again lands the second, and so on. A small counter shows what is left. Everything you copied is still in your history afterwards.
Or pick, instead of queue
Everything you’ve copied drops open from the notch as cards. Pick one and press Return and it goes straight back into the app you were typing in. Cmd-1 to Cmd-9 pastes a card by its position without opening anything.
Two things from one page
The copying was never the work. Going back to find the thing was. With one copy at a time, two things from a web page means two round trips: find the tab, copy, switch back, find your place, paste, and again. With Just Copy you copy both in one trip, and both wait in the tray until you need them.
It needs one permission
To press Cmd-V in the app you were just using, Just Copy asks for Accessibility once. You can say no: picking a card still copies it, you just paste it yourself. Paste Stack needs the permission to work at all.
Questions
Does Paste Stack work in every app?
Paste Stack works with apps and fields that accept a standard Cmd-V paste. It needs Accessibility permission to paste each item for you.
Can I paste without the formatting?
Yes. Shift-Return pastes the words alone, without the fonts and colors.
What if I copy more than I paste?
Nothing is lost. Everything you copied is still in your history as cards, and the stack simply ends when you stop.
